Asia Argento and Ashton Whitty

Asia Argento, born in Rome to a family which comprises directors and actors worked in both areas. The actress made her debut at the age of nine years old, in the film of Sergio Citti, Sogni e bisogni (1985). She played the lead role in Cristina Comencini's Zoo (1988) and also appeared in Michele Soavi's 1989 feature film The Church. In 1989, she played Nanni Moretti's daughter as the Red Wood Pigeon. (Also directed by Moretti). It was with Close Friends (1992), written and directed by Michele Placido, that Asia's career truly took off. she could transition from portraying very young girls, to more mature, complex roles. Cannes International Film Festival was a huge achievement for the film. For Trauma (1993) it was the first time she was the first to work alongside her father, the renowned Italian horror director Dario Argento (her mother is among his favorite actors, Daria Nicolodi, playing an overweight girl who is in search of her parents' murderer. The Phantom of the Opera will be her third film alongside her father, with which includes Trauma & The Stendhal Syndrome. Asia's dedication and passion for acting has also been used in the film by Giuseppe Piccioni in Condannato a Nozze. Patrice Chereau helmed Queen Margot in which she was also in a key role. In 1995, her collaboration alongside Michel Piccoli, in Peter Del Monte's Traveling Companion won her yet another award, this time the David di Donatello as well as Grolla of Oro. In 1994, Asia began filmmaking and made two film shorts: Prospettive in 1996, she directed a documentary on her father, and in 1998, a film about cult director Abel Ferrara, Abel/Asia (1998) and won an award at the Rome Film Festival. Asia was the director of her first film in Scarlet Diva (2000). The film was made in collaboration between Asia and screenwriter/actor Linda McCartney. The movie was released worldwide in May 2000. It received a prestigious prize by the Williamsburg Festival of Film in Brooklyn. Anna Lou, the first daughter of the couple was born in January of 2001. In 2002, she appeared in The Red Siren by Olivier Megaton with Jean-Marc Barr as well as the action-packed film directed by Rob Cohen, with Vin Diesel. The short stories of Asia have appeared in high-profile publications.
